Good Therapy requires a good fit

Offering Individual, Couple, Family & Group Therapy Services

Finding the right therapist can often be a lengthy and challenging process. Many people don’t know where to begin. You may want to determine what kind of therapist is best suited to treat a particular issue or does the therapist participate in my insurance plan? Other factors you may want to consider include: CREDENTIALS (i.e., level of education); EXPERIENCE (i.e., how long has the therapist been licensed and practicing in your area) and EXPERTISE (i.e., does the therapist specialize in mental health conditions such as depression or anxiety). Another factor, to consider would be CULTURAL COMPETENCE (i.e., Will the therapist understand my unique cultural, ethnic, religious, and identity challenges).

          Why Choose Western Wake Counseling

At Western Wake Counseling, Dr. Tammie Moore, our Founder and CEO is a doctoral level clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience. Our mission in providing clinical work is to facilitate sound mental health, however we recognize it’s a journey and not a destination. Good therapists seek to foster hope and nourish the expectation of change, but no therapist should ever guarantee success or promise to change your personality. Research shows the best predictor of success in therapy is rapport – a feeling of trust and respect between the client and therapist, thus forming a “therapeutic alliance.” Western Wake Counseling recognizes the therapeutic relationship as essential to the success a patient experiences.

Our office is a safe space for clients to express themselves honestly. We will work together to help you understand your feelings. Together, we will work to figure out coping strategies and ways to assist you in your journey toward healing.
